The Author

Never giving up her relentless passion for writing, Sonni is already working on the sequel to Bridging Love’s Breaches. When she is away from her story, poetry, and prose, Sonni enjoys a career as a financial analyst. She is a sister of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and a mentor for the Big Brother Big Sister Program.

Some of her all-time favorite authors are E. Lynn Harris, Zane, Eric Jerome Dickey, and Sister Souljah and Asha Bandele.

Author’s remarks on the art of writing:

“For me writing poses a welcomed challenge. A challenge of finding that connection—that “And” in our lives.

Black people possess a unique blend of “Ands”. Our culture is a mixture of the similar and dissimilar. In Bridging Love’s Breaches, I’ve tried to let my characters narrate that part of us—exposing the personal and universal prospective of our imagination, but always maintaining a sense of reality of life. That true essence of life, itself, is balanced on the marriage of our parallel and paradoxical human qualities.

The ultimate joy of writing for me is maneuvering that balance through the relationships of my characters. Only then does my story become alive and exist as complete.”
