ARE YOU FREE?

Every day, billions of people all over the world struggle with some form of bondage. It doesn’t matter what country you live in…how much money you acquire…what position or stature in society you posses…as long as you are living and breathing, you are a candidate for bondage. What type of bondage, you ask? The type that threatens to disrupt your peace. It is anything that causes stress, strain, anguish or emotional pain in your vessel…in your soul. Put bluntly, bondage is any "thing" or person that has the power to hold you hostage and away from the peace and blessings that God can bring into your life.

"There is a sense of freedom and serenity that comes with allowing God to steer the course of your life," predicts V. Helena, author of the new book, His Love Is Freedom. "Letting go and allowing Him to direct your path removes the stronghold of those 'things', situations, and people that threaten peace in our lives." V. Helena contends a vertical connection with God will go a long way in helping you manage everyday challenges that limit your ability to have meaningful and productive relationships. "Before I finally came to this conclusion, God had to 'deal with me'. He patiently waited as He watched me struggle through life repeatedly making the same relationship mistakes (personal and professional). While I stubbornly dragged my heavy luggage of relationship mistakes along feeling down and depressed at every destination, Jesus was walking beside me telling me to put it down and take up His yoke [Matt 11:28-30]. I think I got the better end of the deal. My load was pretty heavy."

Delightfully penned and uniquely composed, Freedom consists of poetry, short stories, prayers, scripture references, and essays based on the author’s personal experience as well as over 100 formal and informal interviews of single and married people of varying age, ethnic, economic, and religious backgrounds. The topics include single living, marriage, child rearing, death, drug addiction, workplace challenges and people that the author characterize as 'unlovelies'. "Jesus has charged us with loving each other. Not just those who show us love, but also those we may find difficult to love…'the unlovelies'. We all have unlovely people in our lives that we have to deal with on some level. Some of them are immediate family members, friends, spouses, children, co-workers…the list of life relationships can be endless. YOU may be an unlovely, and believe it or not, God wants us to love you, too. That’s the premise for this book, allowing your vertical connection with God to impact your horizontal relationships with the people in your life. Taking this approach in your relationships will undoubtedly make a difference in freeing you from bondage and finding peace." And many seem to agree with this approach, or at least are curious about it. Within a week from its official release, Freedom sold over 150 copies. "I think that’s a pretty good number considering it doesn’t have a vanity publisher behind it. I can only attribute this success with the growing need in the Christian community for the type of dialogue the book presents. Relationships are a very hot topic, and a Christian perspective on this topic is always welcomed by those willing to receive it."

     V. Helena has been writing creatively for over 15 years. She is currently working on a novel she plans to publish next summer. "The novel puts to fiction the relationship premise discussed in Freedom," the author adds. Tentatively titled, Having It All, the story takes place in the nation’s capitol and features four successful women who are at varying levels in their spiritual walk. "Three generations are represented here because I wanted to show that no matter how young or old you are, and irrespective of your background or the fact that you are a servant for the Lord, you will face challenges in your relationships that God can help you through."  "Each woman is faced with gazing in the mirror and coming clean with who she is, and what she really wants out of life," explains the author. "We all want peace. Fame and fortune is nothing without peace. A firm belief in God the Father is the first step. The second step is to allow Him to guide your path." There is an excerpt of the novel in His Love Is Freedom. "I am just as excited about what’s to come as I am my recent release. I pray folks will come out and support my work, but most of all, I pray that all who read it will be one step closer to freedom."
